City Clerk
Duties & Responsibilities
As custodian of records, the City Clerk stores and maintains all legal and official city records and documents belonging to the city including the journal of proceedings of the Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, Park Advisory Board, and Board of Adjustment. Any request for records should be directed to the City Clerk.
Agendas & Minutes
The City Clerk prepares and maintains agendas for the Council and Planning and Zoning Commission, and attends all meetings of the Council and transcribes the minutes. As legislative assistant to the City Council and City Attorney, he/she drafts ordinances, resolutions and proclamations.
Legislative Processes
The City Clerk coordinates and performs the necessary steps with all parties for all legislative processes of the city relating to: use permits, rezoning, zoning chapter amendments, plat approvals, variances, and liquor licenses. Any inquiries from the general public, developers, and attorneys concerning city procedures or restrictions and requirements in the City Code or Charter should be directed to the City Clerk.
Municipal Elections
As the authorized official responsible for candidate filings and submission of certifications and other information relative to municipal elections, the City Clerk coordinates all general and special elections with the St. Louis County Board of Election Commissioners.
Board & Commission Vacancies
The City Clerk maintains the list of terms of office for Board and Commission members and administers oaths of office as required. Anyone wishing to volunteer for participation on a board or commission should submit a Nominee Profile to their Council representative or to the City Clerk.
